Safety is our top priority!
We promise to always put your health first. Without our loyal customers, generous donors, and dedicated team members, America’s Thrift Stores would not be possible. Over the past several weeks, we have been working diligently to provide the safest environment possible upon our return. We would not feel comfortable without the confidence of every single team member that our stores are the safest they can be. Exceeding CDC guidelines, we are confident you will feel safe on your next visit to America’s Thrift Stores. We know how excited you are to get back into our stores. Our only request is that you help us keep each other safe by following our new store guidelines. From the bottom of our hearts, we can’t thank you enough for your patience and trust while we navigate this obstacle. Please review the following measures we are implementing in each of our stores to ensure safety and good health:
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Every team member will be wearing protective gloves as well as plastic face shields to limit exposure. Customers and other visitors will NOT be allowed to enter any America’s Thrift Store without a protective face mask. Although this may seem extreme and is far more than what the CDC is requiring, we value our customers and team members too much to risk them falling ill. For ways to make your own mask at home, click here.
Sanitization A team will be tasked with sanitizing registers and card readers between every single customer purchase. This team will also sanitize shopping carts before our customers handle them. Additionally, any other high-touch surfaces will be sanitized throughout the day. We will also operate under reduced store hours to provide our stores with additional time to deep clean and sanitize stores DAILY. Lastly, we will keep hand sanitizer readily available for shoppers and team members.
Special Hours We have reduced store hours to allow additional time to deep clean and sanitize our stores. Monday mornings from 8:00 am to 10:00 AM will be reserved for senior shoppers only to limit exposure for those who are more at-risk.
Social Distancing We will be reminding visitors to remain six feet apart from another person at all times. There will also be floor guides placed throughout our stores. One requires you to stand 6 feet apart while in the checkout lane. The other guides are one-way aisle markers. Please help us keep each other safe by following these markers. There will also be a store capacity limit at 50% normal capacity.
Product Handling Donations made to America’s Thrift Stores will be untouched for 72 hours due to the research that suggests the virus can live on different surfaces and material for days. This will ensure that any bacteria is dead before handling product and terminate the spread of any bacteria to our team members or customers.
Employee Training All America’s Thrift Stores team members will receive safety training on how to best implement the guidelines mentioned above. They will be fully equipped to create and maintain an environment focused on keeping you in good health. We welcome you to ask a team member questions about sanitization practices, store hours, or our product handling process.
Together, we can shop smart and safe. We look forward to seeing you in our stores again!
